About

It all began as result of not being able to find the kind of children's clothes I imagined for my babies - age appropriate, practical, long wearing, in fun, gender-neutral prints. This resulted in the picking apart of a favourite gorgeous vintage romper so I could make a pattern and tweak it to perfection. I expanded my childrens range and joined The Pop-Up Store as demand grew.

Feedback from lovely parents, wanting pretty things for themselves as well, encouraged me to branch out and focus more on a fun & flattering grown-up range, which includes pieces that are bump/breastfeeding-friendly and silhouette smoothing.

Every Peg Leg Frida piece is sewn locally & personally by me on a table in the corner of my lounge room in Armidale NSW Australia.

The name Peg Leg Frida, the school nickname of artist Frida Kahlo, was chosen to reflect the shared values in our work - love, laughter, individuality & expression.

I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.”
